About Kids First
Kids First is a home daycare service based on the south side of Chicago, Illinois that provides high quality and educational care for children 2 weeks to 12 years old. Our mission is to provide high quality education with developmental appropriate practices for each child’s own development for school and beyond their daily life activities. We strive for our children to inquire and become independent thinkers in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment – all with the inclusion of their parents support!
My personal philosophy is that children are curious, they want to explore and have fun with their own ideas while learning. What better way to do that than to let children learn through play, as it touches each of their developmental domain and create a whole child. Fun, warmth, security, exploring, and discovery. We respect the uniqueness of the individual child, for this reason our environment is inclusive as we blend the special needs of each child, celebrate their strengths and ignite their sparks to learn.
Meet Mrs. B
Charlene Barrios – fondly known as Mrs. B – has been educating children for thirteen years in Chicago as the owner/educator of Kids First. She holds an Associates in Arts, Associates in Early Childhood Education, Advanced certification in Child Development Pre School Education. She holds many credentials in Family Child Care, Early Childhood Education, Infant/Toddler and School Age and Youth Development. She is a proud member of National Association For Family Child Care, National Association For the Education of Young Children and Supporting Professional Network Association. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor concentration in Special Education.
Her Day Care is recognized as an Illinois Bronze Quality Program. Mrs. Barrios-Isaac prepares each child’s development domain so they can grow and be prepared for their next milestones in life. Parents are included because children need their support. She believes that children are more engaged in learning if they can inquire and explore with their own ideas.
